RAYMOND LEE ASKEW

Raymond Askew was born February 16, 1954 in Cleveland Ohio to the blessed union of Charles
Archie and Eunice Maxine Askew.

He attended Glenville High School where he obtained his high school diploma. He later attended
Atterbury Job Corps where he earned his certification in Auto Mechanics and continued to work
in the field for over 40 years. He had a natural talent for fixing things. He loved listening to
music. He was known for his nicknames “Sugar Ray” and “Ray dog”. He had a good heart, loved
his family, was straightforward, and funny. His favorite word was “dankey shay” which
conveyed his caring nature. \

After fighting a long battle with sickness Raymond departed this life on June 26, 2022 and went on to rest in the arms of the Lord. He will forever be in our hearts and
truly missed.

Raymond leaves behind to cherish his blessed memory; two sons Deonte Askew Sr., Ramone
Wright, one daughter Eunice Diane Askew; six brothers Charles Luther Askew Sr. (deceased),
Dwight Askew, Larry Askew (deceased), John Askew (deceased), Anthony Smith, Derrick
Askew; four sisters Kathleen Green, Nellie Askew, Verdell Askew, Diane Smith (deceased),
Mary Askew (Sister-in-law); seven grandchildren De’Asia Askew, Aaliyah Bryant, Nariah
Askew, Emmanuel Askew, Deonte Askew Jr., Zion Askew, Gianna Widner; one great grandchild
Theori Askew; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
