Phyllis Marie Carter was born September 26, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Audrey Carter and Annie Martin Carter. She was the seventh of nine children. Phyllis received her education at North High School. At an early age, she professed Christ as her Lord and Savior with The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith where she sang in the church choir.
Phyllis, 62, departed this life to be with the Lord on February 27, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital.
Phyllis was a true woman of God. She loved to spread the gospel to anyone who would listen from street ministry, to passing out tracks, to using her voice to sing God’s praises. Her favorite scriptures were John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" and Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Phyllis is survived by her three sons, James (Charmaine) Carter, Jerome Carter and Shamar Williams; two grandchildren, Christopher Carter and Jadon Carter; five brothers, David Carter, Jerry (Elizabeth) Carter, James (Erma) Carter, Vernon (Debra) Carter, and Erwin Carter; two sisters, Susie Coston and Patricia (Lloyd) Martin; special friend, Neil; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Annie Carter; her daughter, LaKisha Marie Williams and sister, Audrey “Sister” Carter.
Phyllis will be missed and never forgotten. Her memory will live on through her sons, grandchildren, family and friends.
