JEWELL (WADE) SHELBORNE Obituary

(LIVE STREAM OF HER PRIVATE SERVICE CAN BE VIEWED ON:  Facebook group page Jordan Bible Church (JBC) Columbus, OH Saturday 1pm)

Jewell A. (Wade) Shelborne, age 77, was born January 22, 1944 in Columbus, OH.  She was the eldest of seven children born to Johnson and Alberta (Pierson) Wade.

Jewell graduated from Linden McKinley High School, Columbus, OH in 1962, as one of two black students in her class. In 1965, she married Theodore Shelborne.  Jewell was a licensed Realtor for many, many years with Harris Realty.  She also completed Cosmetology School.  In 1996, she retired from DCSC after many years of service.

Jewell was a member of Jordan Bible Church (JBC) and served faithfully on the Kitchen Ministry, L.O.V.E. Women’s Ministry,  Pastor’s Partners and co-coordinator of the Jordan Journey Club.

Jewell was affectionately known as “Gantz”.  She enjoyed and loved traveling and going on cruises, shopping, fashion and was the pillar of love and what family is all about to us all.  She enjoyed television, and Andy Griffin, The Godfather, Golden Girls and Wendy Williams were a few of her favorite shows.

“Gantz”  was very caring, giving and had a heart of gold. She had a warm and special spirit about her that personified unconditional LOVE and made those who came in contact with her feel accepted for who they are, no matter what!  To know her, truly was to love her.   We will all miss “Gantz” dearly and will always cherish the many fond memories we were blessed to share with her.  We will honor her by carrying out her legacy of love and her “family first” belief that she showed us.

Jewell fought a good fight, finished the race and kept the faith (II Timothy 4:7) and she entered eternal rest peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnson and Alberta Wade; husband, Theodore Shelborne; and sister, Janet Hall.

Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory and legacy are her daughter, Tayloria (Jodie, Jr.) Reeder; sons, Tyrone Shelborne and Thad Shelborne; grandchildren, Taytum Reeder, Tierel Shelborne and Jodie “Trey” Reeder III;  great grandson, Carson Mitchell;  sisters, Francine Moore, Lady Wanetta (Pastor Wayne T., Jr.) Lee and Lady Debra (Pastor Stanley V.) Wood: brothers, Johnny (Marsha) Wade and Calvin (Patty) Wade; sister-in-law, Judy Wade; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close family friends.

Masks are required to be worn and social distancing observed also kindly refrain from hugging in an effort to follow CDC Guidelines
