On Thursday, May 4th of 2023, Alphonso Edward Fox passed away at the age of 93.
Alphonso was born on May 20, 1929; to Clenzo Belle and Cordelia Belle Fox. Raised on the westside, Alphonso started working at age 9. By 14 he entered the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Battelle. Then he retired from Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority. He owned his own plumbing business (A E Fox Plumbing) for over 70 years, working well into his late 80s. Alphonso was one of the first black master plumbers in Ohio. He had a strong work ethic, infectious laugh, and genuine smile. He was an avid gun collector; loved to ride his motorcycle, fish, hunt, dance. He is a World War II veteran and mentor to many.
Alphonso is preceded in death by his parents Clenzo and Cordelia, sister Marve Leen Belle, sons Gregory Fox, Alphonso Fox (Butchy), Jeffrey Fox, and Edward Fox, daughters Jodi Fox and Patricia Turner. Mr. Fox leaves to cherish his memory, sons John Fox, Louis Fox (Ricky), Ryan Fox, Daughters Teyaka (Terrence) Booker, Regina Eskridge, Deborah Cox Fox, Brothers Clenzo Belle Fox, James Belle, Stephen Belle, a host of relatives, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and friends
