LaVON REESE Obituary

LaVon Louise Reese, 78 affectionately known as “Von” went home to be with the lord on Sunday September 2, 2018. She was born to Richard T Warren and Louise Rhodes on February 29, 1940 in Columbus Ohio. Unfortunately, she never knew her birth mother because she died during childbirth with her. She was loved and raised by her father, stepmother Beulah Warren, and Aunt Thelma young.

LaVon Was a bright and intelligent child who loved education. She attended Columbus school for girls during primary school and graduated from East high school in Columbus Ohio. She also obtained her registered nurse aid degree and cosmetology license. As a young adult she worked in the factory industry for a small time before starting her private duty nursing career with Easter Seals. After many years of nursing she moved on to a career of cooking. It was no secret Lavon loved to cook. If you ever enjoyed a meal she prepared you walked away surly satisfied. She became a cook for Columbus public schools serving in many schools thru out the district. She was every one’s favorite lunch lady, but after several injuries was forced to retire from the job. LaVon never let her injuries or pain stop her so during retirement she started a silk flower business. She also worked with OSU’s Senior computer program, and the Gibson House a home for teenage mothers.

In 1970 LaVon married Eugene Reese Sr and between the two of them they raised 5 children while enjoying 44 years of marriage. Being a loving wife and mother was her favorite job. Family was always top priority. She also helped raise many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. If you needed help she was one you could count on. She was a woman of faith with a giving heart and spirit. She was a devoted Christian and longtime faithful servant of St James Pentecostal baptized church. Lots of her time and energy was spent there with many ministries like kitchen ministry, usher board, nurse ministry, and youth ministry. She was truly the definition of a Proverbs woman.

LaVon is preceded in death by her parents Richard T Warren, Louise Rhodes, and Beulah Warren. Her Aunt Thelma Young, Sisters Marilyn Reese, and Sandra Reese, Sons Eugene C Reese Jr, Gregory V Reese, Alonzo D Reese, and Daughter Celena Warren. She leaves to cherish her memory, Son Marvin T (marcia) Warren, Daughter Stephrine E (Kenneth) Williams, Daughter in-law Carolyn Reese, Grandchildren Eugene A Reese, Quatessia (John) Reese-Barksdale, Richard T Preston, Rashawn C Reese, Kenneth L Williams, Demetrius L Williams, Marvin E (Amber) Warren, Ashlie (Zachary) Lawson, Ramona Peterson, Shawanda Peterson, DePrince Peterson, Laniqua Felder, and Derron Felder. Many great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews’ other relatives and friends.

God placed you as the head of our family, Thank you for your unconditional love and support. Your legacy will live on thru us. Even though you will be missed to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord. May your soul rest in peace.

Rev Hezekiah Martin, Eulogist
